Both 54325 and 1 are equally best answers. And here’s why:
The sequence has no sense in math, but rather looks like a pattern. Some of these have to be symbols. There are 2 simple cases:
- The “=” here is not the Equality from mathematics, but just a symbol. One cannot assume this “=” symbol has the symmetric property. We reformulate the problem: 1 # 5, 2 # 25, 3 # 325, 4 # 4325, 5 # 54325. So 54325 is the answer.
- We could also consider “=” as Equality and 1,2,3,4,5,25,325,4325 are symbols. We reformulate the problem: a = x, b = y, c = z, d = t, x = a. Now 1 is the answer.
Other cases:
- Both “=” and the numbers 1,2,3,..4325 are symbols. If we reformulate: a # x, b # y, c# z, d # t, x # ?. Now “x # a” seems the only connection. So another 1 as answer.
- All characters are symbols: a # e, b # be, c # cbe, d # dcbe, e # ? . Now “edcbe” seems the natural answer. Another 54325 as answer.
- Maybe even the comma is a symbol =P
It’s just a matter of symbols, there is no math here.
